Robert J. Rubin, M.D. is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University. Dr. Rubin served as Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services in the early 1980s concurrent with his appointment as Assistant Surgeon General during the Reagan administration. In addition, he has served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control, and served as a consultant to the U.S. Senate for human resource issues.
After his career in public service, Dr. Rubin was a consultant with ICF and until 2001 served as president of the merged Lewin-ICF healthcare consulting firm and its successor organizations – Lewin-VHI and The Lewin Group.
A winner of the Bronze Medal from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 1983, he is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and has held several clinical and academic appointments, including Assistant Dean for Government Affairs at Tufts University. He joined the Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1981 as a visiting faculty member, later becoming a Clinical Professor in 1995.
Dr. Rubin earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1970.
